Walnut Provincial Clerk's Counter
A restored early 20th century clerk's counter from Lower Normandy, circa 1900s.
Crafted largely from walnut with two under counter drawers, three spacious oak planked open shelves and a distinctive galleried top. The decorative gallery is three sided with an opening centre-front for customer service.
The fully finished panelled back strongly suggests the counter was originally used as a commercial clerk's desk, shop counter, or reception station. The worker would stand behind the open shelves for quick access to ledgers, tools, or wrapping supplies, while the public faced the clean, panelled side.
Beautifully rich in natural walnut grain detail and tone. Original brass escutcheons and a traditional working key.
Fully restored to retain its history and a lifetime of functional use.
Placement as a retail counter or hospitality host station would be a perfect fit.
Dimensions:
Height: 103cm (116cm with gallery)
