Rectangular Overmantel Mirror

£1,395.00

A large rectangular overmantel or wall mirror from the Limousin region of Central France and likely dated to the late 19th century.

Original glass plate with some super patches of foxing through age. This includes a long streak in the centre from top to bottom which might deter some. Characterful yet still functional.

Gilt frame with interesting decoration including foliage, rams heads and owls. Refinished with gilt paint and dark wax to bronze. Well textured with areas of the original gilt shining through. Some areas of loss to the decoration which have been remoulded and colour matched to tidy.

Original back boards in sound condition.

For portrait hanging, either wall or overmantel, this mirror will make a huge impression on any interior.
