A beautifully restored and highly decorative English workshop table dating from the mid-20th century, crafted in solid beech and retaining a wonderfully authentic patina acquired through decades of commercial use.
Sourced in Hampshire and understood to originate from a haberdashery workshop as a textile sorting table in the 1940s.
The substantial, 3 inch thick table top displays an abundance of character, with a rich honeyed tone, honest surface wear, and good grain pattern that speaks to its industrial origins. Beneath sit three original shallow drawers, each fitted with their original cup handles and retaining their internal divisions, offering both visual interest and practical storage. Raised a touch on sturdy square legs and a central stretcher for added strength.
The rear is fully finished, allowing it to sit effortlessly within a room as a kitchen island, studio worktable, retail display piece, or statement centre table where authenticity and character are paramount.
