Hardware Shop Counter from Cognac
Large restored Victorian shop counter from a hardware store in Cognac, France, circa early 1900s.
Crafted from pine with a newly rebuilt base, skirt and shelves. Two under counter drawers, one of which was the cash drawer and has its coin slot in the counter top.
Three plank counter top with super patina, colour and wear through age. Various layers of original paint are still present and provide hints of yellow, green and blue.
Both drawers have their original key escutcheons and replacement cup handles. Two full depth planked shelves running the entire width of the counter offering generous and practical storage.
Sympathetically restored to retain its history and wear. Oozing character and holding generations of stories we can only imagine.
Kitchen island, hospitality desk, retail display unit or shop counter - each a perfect match.
