French Oak Clerk's Counter
A restored late 19th century oak clerk's counter from Burgundy, France.
The counter would originally have had a galleried top edge and points to a past life in a governmental, law or banking environment.
Crafted from solid oak with good grain detail and tone throughout. Intricate hand carved decorative boarders of high relief foliage and geometric patterns in a Neo-Gothic style.
A generous full width and depth drawer with its original working lock and key. A base level open shelf for added storage.
Fully restored to retain its history and having a replacement base and skirt. The body was likely replaced in the early/mid 20th century.
Placement as shop counter, hospitality station or decorative home island would all be a perfect fit.
