A pair of classic Art Deco club armchairs (fauteuils club) from France, circa 1930s.
Rounded silhouette characterised by generous, overstuffed "barrel" armrests, deep drop-in seat cushions, a soft arched backrest, and low square block wooden feet.
Sympathetically restored to retain their originality and characterful patina. The Cognac tan leather has been treated to re-nourish and waxed to protect the colour. All rips, tears and cracks have been well patched and strengthened to stabilise and prevent further damage.
Original coil sprung bases and cushions. Strengthened webbing for extra support and new base cloth added.
These chairs are distressed with heavy wear from a life well lived and this is what gives them such beautiful character. The wear is purely on the surface with their structure being solid and sound. Very comfortable and a super pair of authentic French club armchairs.
