A French oak sideboard designed by Rene Gabriel, circa 1940s.
Designed as part of a series of emergency furniture produced for a reconstruction programme for the WW2-affected French city of Le Havre. Its model name was 'Mobilier d'urgence type V.150'. The simple and functional design reflects the urgency of its creation.
Five central drawers of equal proportions with a shelved cupboard either side. One key serves both working door locks.
Lightly restored and refinished to retain its aged patina.
