A large antique French Louis XV style overmantel or wall mirror.
Sourced from the Limousin region of Central France and likely dated to the late 19th century.
Original glass plate with some super patches of foxing through age which is heavy in parts yet still functional.
Gilt frame with high relief floral crest, foliage highlights and rose gold border. Refinished with gilt paint and dark wax to bronze. Well textured with areas of the original gilt shining through. Several areas of loss to the decoration which have been remoulded and colour matched to tidy. The frame is far from perfect but stabilised and holds great character as a result.
Original back boards in sound condition.
For portrait hanging, either wall or overmantel, this mirror will make a huge impression on any interior.
